Rights and responsibilities

By signing your Tenancy Agreement, it means you have a legal duty to be a good tenant and neighbour.

You'll find all of your rights and responsibilities in your Tenancy Agreement and Tenant Handbook. 

Here's a quick guide to the main points:

• you can occupy your home without interference from us as long as you follow the terms in your Tenancy Agreement
• you can have your tenancy in joint names with someone else who lives with you
• we are responsible for carrying out repairs to make sure your home is fit for living in
• you must occupy the house as your only or main home
• you must take reasonable care to avoid damage to the home and to your neighbours’ homes
• you and anyone living with you should respect other people and must not harass or act in an anti-social or threatening manner towards anyone else
• you must get written permission for any alterations or improvements you wish to make to your home
• you must take all reasonable steps to make sure you and anyone living with you or visiting you, keeps to the terms and conditions of your Tenancy Agreement
• if you die, other members of your household living with you can succeed your tenancy.
