Mutual exchange

A mutual exchange is a home swap with another social housing tenant.

People move for many reasons: your current home could be too large, or too small, or perhaps you want a change of scene.

You must be an existing tenant of one of the Homes4D&G partner landlords. You can swap with any council tenant or housing association tenant in the UK, as long as they have the right to a mutual exchange and both tenants want to move.  You cannot exchange with somebody living in private rented accommodation.

Both landlords must agree to the swap before you can go ahead and exchange properties.

Tenants of the Homes4D&G partner landlords looking for a home swap can use House Exchange to search for someone to exchange with.

For a cost, you can swap with other social housing, or local authority, tenants anywhere in the UK on HomeSwapper

Once you have found someone, to get started you'll need to register for a free online Homes4D&G account. You will need a valid email address.

When asked What is the main reason you are applying for a home, you should select Interested in house swap or exchange from the drop-down menu.

You'll be asked some questions about your household and circumstances.  You will also be asked to provide the name, address and contact details of the person you intend to swap with.

Please note, if you are a current tenant of Wheatley Homes South, you will need to register via your My Wheatley Homes South account.
